I know I have been a little absent from this challenge but I have a really great reason.. My Mother.. On February 7th I rushed my mother to a local hospital in severe abdominal pain. After many hours of trying to get her pain under control and many test later. She was taken to a room where her roommates screamed obscenities all night. Two days later she was relocated to a new quieter room. Her former roommate was relocated next door. She was told she had inflammation of the bowel and was placed on antibiotics. Sunday night ( February 11th) she started a severe spell of vomiting and ended up with a nasogastric tube. 36 hours later she was again tube free and 24 hours later she was sporting her tube again. On Valentines day instead of getting chocolate and flowers she was getting and ultrasound and x-rays. That showed she had what they thought was a partial bowel blockage. On the 15th she had a CT that showed the physicians that something was not right. At 3pm she received a phone call from her Surgeon and he explained she needed surgery that night about 8pm. I rushed over and consoled my mother and packed her for her room change. At 8pm we strolled down to the holding room. She was taken back to surgery at 10pm. I was very thankful that I work with caring physicians. Dr. Wolk who was going home for a little rest while on call brought me a turkey sandwich, an apple and 2 bottles of water. At 1145pm her surgeon came out and talked to me. He explained that they had to remove 6 inches of her bowel at the junction between the small and large bowel. At that time he explained to me that for some reason that portion had died. She was stable and they were preparing her to take her to her room. At 1245am I watched as they rolled her down the hall to take her too her room. She was in great pain and it was very heartbreaking. I was very quick to tears, I was tired and I could not help her with her pain. By 2am she was semi settled in her new quiet private room. I went home to get some rest. The next days were long, painful and pretty much the same. She slowly was building her strength. She was slowly losing tubes. She was diagnosed with a bacteria C-Diff (very bad junk..) which meant more antibiotics and isolation. Lots of HOT BLUE YUCKY Gowns. They were slowly introducing with some substance. She almost gets home and she develops a pocket in her incision that the doctors add another antibiotic. She now a wound that has opened and has to be packed daily. After 20 days she was finally released. It has been determined that she threw a blood clot and it cut off blood supply to her bowel. This is one of the reasons for the extra days in the hospital was to get her levels stable. Two days after she was discharged I took her to her Primary Care Physician for a coumadin level. They did a finger stick and it was greatly elevated. The physician (Dr A$$) walked in and acted like she was wasting his time being there. She was weak and in tears. I went to work and immediately called and got her in with a caring and WONDERFUL new primary. This woman was so nice to her. She really listened to what mom had to say. I totally LOVE HER. I have become nursemaid. I have tried my best to keep her comfy and clean. I have tried to keep her pain and nausea free. I make sure she is tucked in at night. I feel so bad when she is so uncomfortable and weak. She has lost a least 16lbs as of last Friday. She just looks so frail.. But now it is time to get back on the task of taking pictures. I may not post everyday because I have to make some money babysitting to pay for my upcoming trip in July. I have my airfare and $500 down on the trip..

So sorry to hear about your mom, hope she is feeling better soon.
What an awful ordeal. I miss seeing you, but life happens. You and your mom continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.
